PHYSICAL EDUCATION I (Sem.) offers a basic understanding of rules, regulations and basic skills in the area of team sports with an introduction to individual sports. Each sport unit has a segment including the sports techniques, basic skills, and competition in that sport. Required. (½ credit) PHYSICAL EDUCATION II builds on the knowledge of P.E. I by developing strategies and advanced skills in team and individual sports; it also provides an introduction to lifetime sports. Required. (1 credit) HEALTH (Sem.) will cover a unit on CPR and a study of basic health topics including mental health, drugs and alcohol, nutrition, family living, and first aid. Freshman course. Required. (½ credit) HEALTH & P. E. I (BOYS) BASKETBALL includes health, conditioning, and strength training with emphasis on basketball skills. The student must be a member of the team. (For boys grade 9) (1 credit) HEALTH & P.E. I (BOYS) FOOTBALL - includes health and conditioning and strength training with emphasis on football skills. The student must be a member of the team. (For boys grade 9) (1 credit) P. E. II (BOYS) BASKETBALL includes conditioning and strength training with emphasis on basketball skills. The student must be a member of the team. (For boys grade 10) (1 credit) P. E. III (BOYS) BASKETBALL includes conditioning and strength training with emphasis on basketball skills. The student must be a member or manager of the team. (For boys grade 11) (1 credit) P. E. IV (BOYS) BASKETBALL includes conditioning and strength training with emphasis on basketball skills. The student must be a member or manager of the team. (For boys grade 12) (1 credit) P. E. II (BOYS) FOOTBALL includes conditioning and strength training with emphasis on football skills. The student must be a member of the team. (For girls grade 9) (1 credit) GIRLS TRAINING & CONDITIONING includes conditioning and strength training with emphasis on volleyball/softball/soccer/track. Teacher approval. (1 credit) BOYS TRAINING & CONDITIONING includes conditioning and strength training with emphasis on baseball/soccer/track. Teacher approval. (1 credit) P.E. III & PE IV (GIRLS) FITNESS includes weight training, aerobic activity, cardiovascular conditioning, and nutrition and diet design. The course also includes the development of a cardiovascular and resistance and training program designed to meet individual needs. (1 credit) KINESIOLOGY (Sem.) is an elective physical education course in which students are taught anatomy and physiology of human muscle and bone structures. It Includes in-depth study of biomechanics and muscle development, as well as the study of nutrition and strength and conditioning for the competitive athlete to obtain optimal physical and mental performance. This course will benefit anyone interested in pursuing a career in physical therapy, fitness training, coaching, or any medical field. Prerequisite: PE I and II, Biology I (½ credit) P.E. III & P.E. IV (BOYS) LIFE AND RECREATIONAL includes units in archery, golf, tennis, weight lifting, volleyball. Offered on demand for girls and guys, see specific codes. Prerequisite: Health and PE I & II (1 credit) NUTRITION (Sem.) is an elective which teaches the foundations of healthy eating habits and diet design.(½ credit)
