Campus Ministry
St. Thomas More Catholic High School Campus Ministry works to embrace God, who is love, and to model Jesus’ example of service and leadership, by humbling ourselves to the point of self-sacrifice and passionately sharing Jesus Christ with the St. Thomas More community. We believe it is imperative in our ministry to meet people where they are in life and to love them, not judge them. STM Campus Ministry honors and values the differences of personality, interests, gifts, and passions in each student, faculty, and staff member. Our program offers a wide range of experiences and learning opportunities so that everyone has an opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ and hear his Good News. These opportunities include retreats, events, pilgrimages, mission trips, service work, Sacraments, visitations to the sick/elderly/dying, spiritual formation, praise and worship, music and media.
Homebase
Homebase is a ministry put on by our Senior Cornerstone Team for all other Campus Ministers of all grades. This night, designed specifically for our servant-leader campus ministers, is one of spiritual growth, formation & training, prayer, teamwork, and renewal. Homebase is intended to ‘fill up’ our campus ministers with Jesus in preparation for them to go out among their peers and share Jesus. We cannot give what we do not have. There are 3 Homebases each semester, or a total of 6 throughout the school year. Attendance by all Campus Ministers is required.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)
Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a ministry led by Senior FCA Campus Ministers. FCA provides a ‘Huddle’, or morning devotional with breakfast provided for all athletes of all grades. Students who do not participate in sports are also welcome. The ‘Huddle’ format begins in prayer, followed by an outside speaker brought in by the Campus Ministers who shares Scripture and gives testimony of their own journey through sports and how the experience brought them to Christ. The Huddle ends in fellowship and breakfast.
Music Ministry
Music Ministry provides all the music for school Masses. With Mass each Thursday throughout the school year, Music Ministry stays busy learning new liturgical music and the most current Christian songs. Music Ministry auditions take place at the end of each school year. Upperclassmen are invited to try out. Our Music Ministry supports a cast of acoustic guitar players, a drummer, occasionally a horn instrument, a bass guitarist, and vocalists.
Ministers of Communion
The privilege of serving as a Minister of Communion is restricted to STM seniors who have received the sacrament of Confirmation and demonstrate proper understanding and reverence for this Sacrament. In collaboration with our Chancellor and the Pastors of our partner Church Parishes, these seniors are able to serve our STM community by helping to distribute the Eucharist at all school Liturgies. Any senior who is a practicing Roman Catholic can request admittance to this special ministry. Ministers of Communion are expected to participate in campus ministry and to be active participants in their home Church Parishes.
